uThukela Water is led by a team of experienced executives responsible for the day-to-day operations and implementation of the organisation’s strategy.
Mr. Wiseman Bonginkosi Nkosi
Managing Director
Mr. Nkosi joined uThukela Water as Managing Director in 2022, after serving as the Municipal Manager of the Dannhauser Municipality for two terms. He also worked as a Manager: Support Services at the AbaQulusi Municipality as well as the Manager of Corporate Services of the Utrecht Municipality.
Mr. Mzamani Isaac Khoza
Company Secretary
Mr. Khoza joined the entity as Company Secretary in May 2023. His vast experience in local government includes but not limited to being, a Senior Project Consultant for the RSA National Disaster Management Centre, Manager Environment and Waste Management at the Greater Giyani Municipality, Manager Capacity Building, Research and Development for the Department of Cooperative Governance.
He was also a Manager Disaster Management for Greater Giyani Local Municipality, Director Community Services for the Geater Giyani Local Municipality, and Operations Manager Strategic Support: Office of the Johannesburg Roads Agency CEO.
Mr. Bongumenzi Ntandoyenkosi Khumalo
Acting CFO
Mr. Khumalo joined the entity in June 2023, after he was seconded as CFO from one of our parent municipalities, Newcastle Local Municipality.
Mr. Khumalo started his journey in municipal financial management in
2008 as a Creditors Clerk for the Nquthu Local Municipality.
He also worked for Okhahlamba Local Municipality as a Payroll Officer. He later joined the Newcastle Local Municipality as a Budget Accountant in 2012, appointed as Manager Cash and Debt management in 2015 and appointed as Manager Financial Reporting in 2021, also acted as Acting Director: Budget and Reporting for the municipality, for the period of 8 months, in 2022/23 financial year.
Mr. Khumalo is a registered Professional Accountant and brings to the entity a wealth of knowledge in municipal financial management.
Mr. Clever Taurayi Dhliwayo
Acting Executive Director Operations and Engineering
Mr. Dhliwayo joined the entity as a Planning and Design Engineer in February 2010 after serving the Government of Zimbabwe for 9 years as a Chief Provincial Engineer in the Ministry of Water and Infrastructural Development.
He was appointed to the position of Acting Engineering Manager in July 2013. He is currently the Acting Executive Director Operations and Engineering since February 2017.
Mr. Mndeni Sydney Sibisi
Manager: Human Capital
Mr. Sibisi joined the entity as Personal Assistance to the MD in July 2004. In 2007, he was appointed to Human Resources Department as Human Resource Administrator. In March 2009, he was appointed as a Training and Development Officer, thereafter, he was appointed as IR/HR Manager in 2012. His experience in HR field includes being a Labour Consultant for Tugela Labour consultants, heading the SABPP HR standard project, and he is also a member of SALGA Panellists of Chairpersons and Prosecutors.
Dr. Omesh Singh, PhD.
Chief Information Officer
As the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of uThukela Water, he brings 25 years of diverse experience in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) field, driving innovation and operational excellence.
His expertise lies in developing and implementing forward-thinking ICT strategies that align with business objectives. Key areas of experience include digital transformation, technology innovation, and ensuring robust ICT governance frameworks. With a focus on continuous improvement, he manages critical ICT infrastructure, optimise service delivery, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
